Profile of H.E. Mr. Supradip Chakma, Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam & Democratic People's Republic of Lao

His Excellency Mr. Supradip Chakma, a career diplomat, was born in 1961 at Khagrachari Hill Districts in Bangladesh. He obtained his Master Degree in Marketing from Dhaka University in 1983.   In 1988, he appeared in the Bangladesh Civil Services Examination and obtained Foreign Affairs Cadre.   Immediately after joining in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he attended the Specialized Training Course at the Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy and the Foundation Training Course at the Public Administration Training Centre in 1988-89. He also attended the French Language and Diplomatic Training Programme at the Institut Internationale d'Administration Public (IIAP) in Paris in 1990-92. Subsequently at the mid-level, he attended a course on security affairs at Asia and Pacific Centre for Security Studies (APCSS) at Hawaii, USA in 2001.   Before his appointment as an Ambassador of Bangladesh to Vietnam & Laos, he served in different capacities both at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Bangladesh Missions abroad as:

1992-1993         : Assistant Secretary in Policy Coord. Cell and General Services,

1993-1996         : 2nd  & 1st Secretary in Bangladesh Embassy in Rabat,

1996-1999         : 1st Secy & Counsellor, Bangladesh High Commission, Colombo,

1999-2001         : Deputy Chief of Protocol & Director (Am & P) in the Ministry,

2001-2004         : Counsellor, Bangladesh Embassy, Brussels & the EU,

2005-2007         : Minister, Bangladesh Embassy, Ankara,

2007-2009         : Director General (Far East) in the Ministry.

On 13 October 2007, he presented his ‘Letters of Credence' to His Excellency Mr. NguyÔn Minh TriÔt, President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam as the Ambassador, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bangladesh.  

He is married to Madame Nandita Chakma and is blessed with two sons- Bhaswar & Sohom.
